Questions about Markdown Viewer Online

Is Markdown Viewer Online free?

Yes. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Is my Markdown uploaded anywhere?

No. The editor renders your text in your browser and does not send it to our server. Your last document is autosaved in your browser's local storage so it is there next time; clearing your site data for this website removes it. Images and links inside your Markdown load from wherever they point, as they would in any browser.

How do I open a .md file?

Click "Open .md file" or drag the file onto the editor. Files up to 5 MB are read directly from your computer; they are not uploaded.

Which Markdown flavor does it use?

GitHub Flavored Markdown, through the marked library: tables, task lists, fenced code blocks, strikethrough and autolinks. Single line breaks inside a paragraph are kept.

Can I save the result as a PDF?

Click "Print / PDF" and choose "Save as PDF" as the destination in your browser's print dialog. Only the rendered preview is printed.

What is not supported?

Footnotes, LaTeX math and diagrams such as Mermaid are not rendered at the moment. Unsafe HTML, such as scripts, is removed by the sanitizer.
